Rienzi Gallery Talk

Thursday, Oct 17, 2013
1 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

1406 Kirby Drive Map & Directions

On the third Thursday of each month, Rienzi highlights a great work of art in the Rienzi Collection. Gallery Talks are given by curators, conservators, educators, and librarians.

Christine Gervais, associate curator for Rienzi, discusses a multicolored, or "harlequin," tea and coffee service by the Paris porcelain factory of Christophe Dihl and his husband-and-wife partners, the Guérhards. Founded just before the French Revolution, this little-known factory is remarkable for the vast range of ceramic colors it achieved, rivaling the national factory at Sèvres.

Admission is free. Reservations are encouraged. Please call 713.639.7800.

Education programs at Rienzi receive generous funding from the Sterling-Turner Foundation; The Brown Foundation, Inc.; the Carroll Sterling and Harris Masterson III Endowment; and the Caroline Wiess Law Endowment for Rienzi.
