On the third Thursday of each month, Rienzi highlights a great work of art in the Rienzi Collection. Gallery Talks are given by museum curators, conservators, educators, and librarians.
April Gallery Talk: Leather and Cloth Bindings in the Masterson Library
Margaret Culbertson, director of the Powell Library and Study Center at Bayou Bend, discusses the materials and techniques used in fine book bindings. Rare examples of the binder’s art from Rienzi’s library shed light on mysterious terms used to identify the elements of a book, including forel, dentelle, and yapp.
