Manhattan Short Film Festival

Friday, Oct 05, 2012
7 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Law Building, Lower Level
1001 Bissonnet Map & Directions

An extraordinary event takes place in venues across the globe! More than 100,000 people in 250 cities across six continents gather to view and vote in the annual Manhattan Short Film Festival. The festival’s mission is to unite audiences from all corners of the globe for one week via the most compelling short films of the year. Houston audiences vote for their favorites, and the results are compiled along with those of viewers at all the other venues, with the winner announced in New York on October 7. Over the past decade, six films have been nominated for Oscars in the short-film category, and many of the finalists go on to make notable feature films. Manhattan Short is your chance to see the next generation of filmmakers from around the world.

This year’s finalists are Norway’s The Devil’s Ballroom; The Netherlands’ A Curious Conjunction of Coincidences; Russia’s Where Does the Sea Flow; the UK’s Two & Two; Ireland’s Cluck; Peru’s Behind the Mirrors; France’s The Elaborate End of Robert Ebb; Romania’s Superman, Spiderman or Batman; the USA’s 92 Skybox Alonzo Mourning Rookie Card; and Spain’s Voice Over.

MSFF program preceded by Texas short-film winner of Citizen Journalist competition. Organized by SWAMP (Southwest Alternate Media Project) in honor of its 35th anniversary and its founder, James Blue.
