MFAH Family Day “Fascinating Faces”

MFAH Family Days are held on select first Sundays throughout the year, with opportunities to explore and make art, see a performance, hear a story, watch a film, and much more!

At today's fun-filled program, families use their art-detective skills to discover more about works of art featuring faces from around the world.

  • Create an elegant mask inspired by an elaborate portrait of a Spanish queen
  • Play with puzzles and learn about the portraits of all kinds of people that are on display in the European galleries
  • Hearan MFAH educator read Madame La Grande and Her So High, to the Sky, Uproarious Pompadour by Candace Fleming (1:30 p.m.)
  • Sketch works of art found in the museum's collection of Pre-Columbian and African sculptures
  • Listen to a performance by classical and flamenco guitarist/composer Jeremy S. Garcia, accompanied by percussionist Chris Howard (2 p.m.)
  • Watch a collection of short films celebrating the imaginations of animators from Disney and Pixar (2:30 p.m.)
  • Journey into the galleries with an MFAH Family Guide on an exciting family looking experience, discovering more about he portraits on display in the European galleries (3 p.m.)
