Known as the official photographer of Paris, Charles Marville (1813–1879) photographed the city both before and after its medieval streets were razed to make way for the broad boulevards, parks, and monumental buildings we have come to associate with the City of Light. Enjoy the startling clarity, lyrical beauty, and historical significance of Marville’s photographs on this one-hour members tour that weaves together recently discovered information about Marville’s personal and professional biography with his remarkable photographs in the exhibition Charles Marville: Photographer of Paris.
