Master Tours “Houghton Hall: Portrait of an English Country House”

Monday, Aug 04, 2014
4 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Beck Building
5601 Main Street Map & Directions

Houghton Hall: Portrait of an English Country House brings the renowned collection of paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts from England's Houghton Hall to the United States for the first time. Family portraits by Hogarth and Sargent, unique furniture by William Kent, and exquisite objects in porcelain, gold, and silver tell the fascinating stories behind one family's collecting over three centuries, all presented in re-creations of the original room settings.

On two Mondays, July 28 and August 4—when the Museum is closed to the public—take part in Master Tours, an exclusive series of in-depth events led by Museum art historians who share their expansive knowledge of the works on view. Each tour is an hour long and may be enjoyed as a single tour or as a two-part series. After the tour, discuss your experience over a glass of champagne.
