Extending 4,000 miles from Eastern Europe to Eastern Asia—with routes into the Arabian Peninsula and North Africa—the Silk Road was an important route for the exchange of goods and ideas. On this Gallery Talk, consider works of art that benefited from cultural transmission: via pack animals in the 2nd century BC to today’s freight rail connecting China and Germany.
