In conjunction with the exhibition American Adversaries: West and Copley in a Transatlantic World, this tour focuses on the relationship between Benjamin West and John Singleton Copley, 18th-century American artists who left the colonies to make London their home. The story of their friendship—which eventually turned into a passionate rivalry—sheds a unique light on this spectacular exhibition as well as the two artists’ lives.
