Speaker: David Brauer, senior lecturer, Glassell School of Art
Prior to the modern period, the function of paintings was to tell stories, and those who commissioned the paintings knew the stories. This lecture focuses on biblical, mythological, and literary stories depicted in Dutch and French paintings of the 17th century.
