Look to the MFAH for good books and great conversations! The two MFAH house museums host a discussion series about books on life in America and Europe in the 1700s and 1800s. The September discussion features In Small Things Forgotten: An Archaeology of Early American Life, James Deetz’s study of historical archaeology and the material culture of America, framed through a series of fascinating case studies analyzing the evidence left by early Americans pursuing their daily lives. Pipe stems, gravestones, and house plans have a great deal to say about earlier generations!
