Rienzi and Bayou Bend host a history book discussion series about life in America and Europe in the 1700s and 1800s. Meeting alternately at Rienzi and Bayou Bend, this book club offers free discussions each month.

At March's discussion session, explore the development of Europe’s “white gold” through the scientific discoveries of porcelain in Janet Gleeson’s The Arcanum: The Extraordinary True Story (1998). In a story riddled with rivalries, spies, and war, the development of the secret formula for porcelain was perfected by three men at Meissen in the 18th century.
