Celebrate the 80th birthday of Czech-born filmmaker Miloš Forman with an adaptation of the counterculture musical Hair. Based on the Broadway musical of the 1960s, Hair relates the story of Claude (John Savage), a young Oklahoman who leaves his family ranch for New York City. He quickly becomes involved with the hippie subculture and falls in love with a girl (Beverly D’Angelo). However, their happiness is short-lived when Claude is subsequently drafted. The musical also stars Treat Williams.

Forman studied at the Prague Film Academy and created his own style of comedy with his Czechoslovakian films. He left Europe for the United States during the 1968 Prague Spring. Forman achieved fame (and a U.S. citizenship) in 1975 with One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest, which won five Oscars. He has since developed an affinity for directing biopics of complicated, flawed characters (Amadeus, Man on the Moon, and The People vs. Larry Flynt).
