Families are invited to enjoy art workshops, gallery games, performances, and more during this afternoon of fun presented jointly by Rienzi and Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens. Admission is free, with complimentary transportation between the two house museums. Refreshments are served.

Bayou Bend explores the history of the energy industry in Texas from the Hogg Family to the present with its' theme Energy: A Texas Legacy. Create an optical illusion of an oil geyser, color in the Houston skyline, and create your own charcoal drawing at one of our art stations. Discover fossils of prehistoric animals and learn about a prehistoric plant species that still lives in the Bayou Bend Gardens. Enjoy music performances by The Traveling Murphys and Rickey Pittman, and visit the historic house and the Kilroy Center to learn more about how the Hogg Family made their fortune in oil and their legacy in philanthropy.

Bayou Bend | Celebrating Community

PLEASE NOTE At Bayou Bend, repair work has required closure of the bridge that serves as the public entrance, but Bayou Bend remains open, and Family Days go on as scheduled. A free shuttle service transports guests to the historic property, with stops at the Lora Jean Kilroy Visitor and Education Center, the Bayou Bend entrance on Lazy Lane, and Rienzi. Buses run continuously throughout the duration of the program.
