Families are invited to enjoy art workshops, gallery games, performances, and more during this afternoon of fun presented jointly by Rienzi and Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens. Admission is free, with complimentary transportation between the two house museums. Refreshments are served.

"Fabric of America" at Bayou Bend investigates the impact of textiles on the American way of life. See the evolution of clothing over time and handle reproduction examples; learn about the colonial laundry; hear the story Redcoats and Petticoats; try your hand at the basics of stitching and weaving; and tour the Bayou Bend Collection with an activity guide that focuses on clothing worn in the portraits.

"Parade of Books" at Rienzi celebrates classic children's literature. See early editions of Winnie the Pooh, Babar, and other rare books on display in the exhibition Rienzi Library: Highlights from a House. Enjoy performances, art workshops, and scavenger hunts on the grounds of the estate.

Rienzi | “All the Comforts of Home”
Explore the exhibition Comfort and the Eighteenth-Century Interior with art making, music, and more.

Bayou Bend | Celebrating Community
Learn about America's early settlers, from the clothes they wore to their favorite games and food.

PLEASE NOTE At Bayou Bend, repair work has required closure of the bridge that serves as the public entrance, but Bayou Bend remains open, and Family Days go on as scheduled. A free shuttle service transports guests to the historic property, with stops at the Lora Jean Kilroy Visitor and Education Center, the Bayou Bend entrance on Lazy Lane, and Rienzi. Buses run continuously throughout the duration of the program.
