“Conversations with the Director” is a new series with Museum director Gary Tinterow, who engages an eclectic roster of guests in one-on-one conversations about the arts. Past speakers in 2013 were artist Jeff Koons and Dr. Ruth Westheimer.
The third discussion of 2013 brings arts patron and noted collector Ronald S. Lauder to the MFAH.In 2001, Lauder established the Neue Galerie in New York, the landmark museum devoted to early 20th-century German and Austrian art and design. In this conversation, he discusses his years of collecting art, from antiquities and medieval art to modern masters, as well as his passion for Austrian and German art of the early 20th century. On September 29, Koloman Moser: Designing Modern Vienna, 1897–1907, an exhibition organized by the Neue Galerie, opens at the MFAH.
