Adding a Beat: Hirsch Library Project

This individual site-specific performance, conceived by Core Program critic Hanna Yoo, invites eight Houston-based artists to intervene in the Museum's Hirsch Library in conjunction with the the 2014 Core Exhibition. Admission is free.

The April 4 performance is by Regina Agu, Antena (Jen Hofer & John Pluecker), and a quartet (Damon Smith, Sandy Ewen, Ryan Edwards, and Rebecca Novak), and the April 11 counterpoint performance is by pairs Autumn Knight, Lisa E. Harris, Lauren Moya Ford, and Rebecca Novak. A sound installation by Lina Dib is embedded in the library from April 4 to May 2.

About the 2014 Core Exhibition
The 2014 Core Exhibition features work by artists-in-residence Julia Brown, Anahita Ghazvinizadeh, Anna Elise Johnson, Senalka McDonald, Harold Mendez, Madsen Minax, and Ronny Quevedo. Core critics-in-residence Patrik Haggren and Hanna Yoo contribute essays based on their independent research to the Core 2014 Yearbook, which is published in conjunction with the exhibition.

The Core Program at the Glassell School of Art receives generous funding from The Joseph and Sylvia Slifka Foundation and The National Endowment for the Arts.
