The Julia Picton Wallace Lecture, sponsored by the Bass Wallace family in memory of one of the most beloved and accomplished members of The Garden Club of Houston, offers a fitting gift to the community by showcasing flower arranging at the highest level..

Jane Godshalk, AIFD, earned an MBA in organizational behavior before discovering her passion, floral design. Looking at nature, its colors, and textures continues to be her inspiration and she loves sharing this beauty with others. She holds certificates in floral design in Europe and the United States. She is an artistic judge for the Garden Club of America (GCA) and received the GCA National Medal for “consistently innovative floral design.” The American Horticultural Society has awarded her the Frances Jones Poetker Award for outstanding contributions to floral design education. Her work has been featured in books and magazines, and she has written a column on “Environmentally Friendly Floral Design.” She is on the faculty of Longwood Gardens in the floral design program; presents lectures and workshops around the country; and designs for weddings and events.

Lecture tickets and museum admission are free, courtesy of the Bass Wallace Family and The Garden Club of Houston. Auditorium doors open 30 minutes prior to the start of the lecture. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
