The renowned Beck Collection features Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, and early Modernist paintings. Houstonian Audrey Jones fell in love with Impressionism on a trip to Paris as a teenager, and after she married John A. Beck during World War II, they built a definitive collection for her hometown. Over the years the works were gradually given to the MFAH. Revolutionary art movements from Impressionism and Pointillism to Fauvism and Cubism are represented through masterpieces by artists including Mary Cassatt, Paul Cézanne, Edgar Degas, Vincent van Gogh, Wassily Kandinsky, and Henri Matisse.
