Programs for Teachers and Students
Teacher Workshop: Once a year, educators are invited to Rienzi's Teacher Workshop to learn about Rienzi's remarkable collection of
English and European art and how to integrate history and art into school curricula. Teachers are given a tour of the collection and provided with a
certificate of participation, a selection of images, and information about art-related activities for class-room use.
To learn more about Rienzi's Teacher Workshop, please call 713-639-7800 or check Rienzi's Calendar for current program listings.
School Tours: High-school students are invited to free group tours at Rienzi. Docent-guided tours are interactive, educational, and fun. Focusing on works of art with mythological themes, the tours introduce students to the influences of ancient Greek and Roman cultures on Western art and architecture.
Tours can be tailored to integrate with history, language arts, social studies, and art curricula. The small group size and intimate house-museum setting encourage student participation and thoughtful observation of the art.
School tours are offered Wednesday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance. One adult chaperone is required for every 10 students. Pre-tour materials and follow-up activities are provided to teachers. Tours are available in sign language. To schedule a tour call 713-639-7800.
